About Roast Battle:
If you enjoy comedy that has a bit of a "bite," you’ve come to the right place. A Roast Battle is essentially the stand-up comedy version of an 8nd Mile rap battle - but instead of rhythm and flow, the weapons are punchlines and personal insults.
While roasting has been around forever (think Dean Martin or Comedy Central Specials), the Roast Battle League turned it into a structured, competitive sport. Created and popularized by comedians like Jeff Ross, Brian Moses and DJ Coach Tea at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles.
The Format: Two comics, five jokes each (usually), and a panel of "mean" judges—often local celebrities and comedians. Just like the UFC or NBA, the league tracks wins, losses, and knockouts. Comedians climb the ranks to earn title shots.
Expansion: What started in a small belly room in LA has expanded into a global network. There are now "territories" or chapters in cities like London, Tokyo, New York, and Austin, and now New Orleans!
